About Lucia Romero
Lucia was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. She began dancing Ballet Folklórico and performing in regional Musical Theater at a very young age. She later moved out to Los Angeles to study Musical Theater at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, where she earned a BFA. With many years of dance training and education under her belt, Lucia has made Los Angeles her professional dance home, teaching hundreds of lessons and classes in Ballroom, Latin, and Nightclub styles. She has competed and won Best Amateur in American Rhythm and American Smooth at the People’s Choice Dancesport Competition in Arizona, and took 2nd in Rising Star Just Salsa at the World Salsa Summit in Miami, FL.
Lucia is currently one of the Dance Directors at Motion On 2 Dance Company, where they teach weekly classes and lead competitive salsa and bachata teams with a focus on strong technique, musicality, and community. Each week, Lucia volunteers at Homeboy Industries, offering dance classes as a means of healing, connecting, and self-expression for formerly incarcerated individuals rebuilding their lives. She hopes to to continue to pass on her knowledge to aspiring dancers of all walks of life and skill levels. Her favorite dance styles to teach include waltz, tango, foxtrot, salsa, swing, and bachata.
